The brief
Located in Brisbane’s West End, Two Trees operates as a specialty coffee cafe by day and a cocktail bar by night. The project required a singular, cohesive identity capable of transitioning from the morning rush to an intimate evening atmosphere. The goal was to create a distinctive yet simple visual language that felt grounded in its surroundings.
The Concept
The venue’s vertical layout—cafe downstairs and bar upstairs—served as the primary inspiration for the identity. The "split" box icon is a literal reflection of this architecture, providing a structural shorthand for the venue's dual nature.
Visual Language
Rooted in a palette of earthy greens and warm tones, the identity prioritizes strong iconography and paired-back typography. This minimalist approach was chosen to provide a sophisticated, uncluttered aesthetic that remains versatile across different formats.
The Result
By using the physical space as a conceptual anchor, Two Trees achieved a memorable identity through simplicity. The resulting system is highly functional and scalable, ensuring the brand remains clear and consistent from the morning’s first coffee to the final cocktail of the night.
