Malt brewing
A local brewery needed a distinctive and playful brand to differentiate and elevate them from the array of other craft beer brands.

The brief
A local brewery was looking for a distinctive, playful identity to stand out in an increasingly crowded craft beer scene.
The idea
While many craft beers lean loud and illustrative, Malt takes a more restrained approach—using simple shapes, colours and a single idea inspired by the ritual of the pour. The “t” in Malt doubles as a tap, also subtly tying the brand to the act of pouring from the many taps at two local venues.
The identity
A 45-degree tilt runs through the logo and glass icon—a nod to the perfect pour. It creates a small moment of recognition while giving Malt a sense of craft and intention, balanced with an easygoing feel.
The visual system
Simple colour-blocking differentiates the range while keeping the brand cohesive. Clean, type-led labels bring clarity and position Malt as a more considered alternative on shelf.
Beyond the can
The identity was designed to extend into venues and everyday touchpoints—from wearable apparel to simple, tactile business collateral.
The outcome
A restrained but playful identity that cuts through in a crowded category. The result is a flexible system that feels thoughtful and well-crafted—elevating Malt without overcomplicating it.
